Monday mornings sometimes need a little help to get going, so we have compiled a couple of light-hearted pieces to kick off your week. The round-up of the latest maritime stories to make you smile:


Just weeks after announcing a successful deployment of the ocean cleanup system-001B, the team at Ocean Cleanup are making waves again, this time with a new technology to be deployed along the world’s heaviest polluting rivers, in an attempt to prevent the plastics reaching the ocean.


The University of Maine set three new world records when they unveiled the world’s largest 3D printed boat earlier this month.


And, down in Australia, the Antarctic division’s Aurora Australis has commenced her final voyage. The 30 year old icebreaker is retiring at the end of this season to make way for a new research vessel due for delivery in 2020.
